How it works

From a spreadsheet to a calm morning.

You send us the list of children who ride; we do the setup, and from the first morning every parent sees their own child board.

In short

What it is, in one paragraph.

Shield100 is a register of which child is on which bus, kept live. Your school sends us the list of riders; we turn it into lines and stops with real times. On the bus, a steward opens a page on an ordinary phone and taps each name as the child climbs aboard. That one tap writes the minute into the register, shows the office who is accounted for, and tells that child’s parent — and only that child’s parent. At the gate, the steward marks the children delivered and the morning is closed. Nothing is printed, nothing is installed, and by the second week nobody in your office is answering the phone to say “yes, she got on”.

Setting up

Getting your school running.

Five steps. Three of them are ours. Most schools are running a real line within a fortnight of sending the first spreadsheet.

  1. Step 1

    You send us your riders

A spreadsheet exported from your school system, or the list you already keep. Names, year group, which line, which stop. We will take it in any shape.

    Shield100
  2. Step 2

We build your lines and stops

Every stop gets a time for the morning run, for after school, and for after clubs. You read it over once and tell us what to change.

  3. Step 3

    Your stewards get the log

An invitation arrives by email and the log opens on any phone. There is nothing to install and no app store to visit.

    Shield100
  4. Step 4

    Parents are invited

Each family gets a link to their own page. A parent only ever sees their own children, and never another family in the school.

    Your office approves the list
  5. Step 5

    You run your first morning

The office watches the board fill as the children climb aboard. Parents stop calling, because they already know.

    Your office

The question every director asks

Do we connect to your database?

No. Nothing plugs into your student information system, and we do not ask for access to it. You export a spreadsheet, we load it, and you keep editing riders inside Shield100 from then on.

When a family joins in January, add the child in Shield100 in a few seconds — or send us a fresh export and we top up the roster, matching on name and year group so nobody is entered twice.

If your system can export a CSV, you are ready.

A morning

Minute by minute.

One line, one morning, as the register writes it down. The office does nothing here except watch.

  1. 07:02

    The manifest is built

Every rider on every line for today, drawn from the roster while the office is still taking its coat off. Nobody typed anything.

  2. 07:31

    The first child is aboard

The steward taps Ema at her stop. Her mother’s phone carries the time before the doors close.

  3. 07:44

    A parent reports an absence

Jakub is unwell. His father marks him not riding, and the note reaches the steward’s log and the office desk at once.

  4. 07:48

    The stop is cleared

Everyone expected at I. P. Pavlova is accounted for. The steward moves on knowing nobody was left standing.

  5. 08:05

    All delivered

The last child is marked delivered at the school gate. The morning is closed, and it stays on the record.

One register, three windows

Everyone sees the part that is theirs.

Window one

The office

One board for the whole morning. Who is aboard, who is still expected, and anybody missing — in a glance, live, without a phone call.

See it in the demo

Window two

The steward

A phone-sized log in large type, readable on a moving bus in sunlight. One tap marks a child aboard, and a mis-tap can be undone.

Window three

The parent

The question answered before it is asked. When the child boards, the time is stamped on the family’s page and nowhere else.

See it before you ask us for anything.
